Canadian Council of Ahlus Sunnah at a glance
Connecting and empowering Canada's diverse Sunni Communities
The Canadian Council of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah (CCAS) has been in existence since 2006. It adheres to the traditional beliefs and practices of Islam based on the Holy Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم). Since its inception, CCAS has hosted many public events. It has connections and works with mosques, associations and tariqahs across Canada.
CCAS represents a joint effort by a growing number of Muslim academics and professionals. Their goal is to create an enduring institution to organize the largest contingent of Muslims in Canada — Sunni Muslims — into an effective and vibrant community. The need to move Islam forward in Canada in a planned and coordinated manner is a matter of priority. This requires commitment to a long-term vision that includes Muslims playing a positive role in the social fabric and political life of Canada.
CCAS is unique in the sense that it is the only Canadian-based organization which engages with and caters for Canada's diverse Sunni Muslim population. It is working to unite them by strengthening our institutions under a common vision.
